Work, Family? Which one comes first?

Work, Family? Which one comes first?

Let’s face it, family, my kids come first but without work my family would not go anywhere.

No home, no school, no food, no clothes etc. You get the picture but what to do when your kids are sick, recover and get sick again. This is one of the main reasons I work from home as I can still work and look after them. I am also working part time and already I can tell people are getting annoyed and frustrated because I have to cancel work again when one of my kids are sick and I don’t cancel work when they have a runny nose, it has to be fever, throwing up, doctor telling me to keep them home.

And though I am blessed to have a gorgeous family in law, we don’t have aunties/ nannas who can jump in at the last minute to look after my kids.

This is why I encourage women/mums to find a job that allows them to work from home or at least have the possibility to work from home when needed and I truly believe most jobs in an office environment can be done from home. Set up an intranet (internal internet) and people can access remotely.

Don’t get me wrong, it is hard working from home, it requires discipline; don’t get distracted by cleaning and cooking. Allocate set hours for work and deal with the homework afterwards. But it can work very well and has been for my family.

Be Empowered and Work from Home!
