What can I automate?

‘What can’t you automate?’, is always my answer as the more you automate the less you need to either
  1. manually do or
  2. pay you VA to do.

In other words automate as many tasks as possible so your assistant can focus on the few, yet important manual steps that still need to be done in any business so you no longer need to either work on or in it (unless of course you want to – which all true entrepreneurs usually do let’s face it).

So if you are serious about automation then you need to consider 3 main areas; that is not just automating the marketing of your business but wherever possible the sales and fulfillment processes as well!
Automating your sales is easy – don’t accept manual cash payments. They are so many different ways to electronically transact money these days that you shouldn’t even need to manually collect a sale again but everything that happens up to the time someone transacts a sale with you (let’s call that marketing) and everything that happens after you have received a payment (let’s call this fulfillment) can’t be fully automated… or can they?
Your marketing can be fully automated via sophisticated landing pages and sales funnels that move people through a process of receiving something for free, to purchasing a low price item from you, to becoming an affiliate of that product to farm others into the same sales funnel they just went through while they automatically move onto the next, slightly higher price point sales funnel and begin moving through the same three phases. What can’t be fully automated is the lead gen as you still need to manually send traffic into your otherwise fully automated sales funnels otherwise no money comes out the other side. Once you get to the other side though you need to of course fulfill on the sale you just got. Just like if you were using speaking as a lead generation method for example if the product/service you sold for example was coaching while you might be happy charging a high hourly rate and rocking up for prebooked, prepaid coaching appointments you need to be aware that you need to of course manually fulfill on them by rocking up and delivering the sessions. There are ways around this of course such as only ever selling a product and/or service that can be created/delivered once to an infinite number of people and infinite number of times but more about this in my next few blogs.
